Set up your sales taxes

Set your sales taxes once in More → Taxes. Pick your province and Quoti fills in the tax names and rates. They're added to every new quote, job and invoice unless you turn a tax off.

Before you start

You need to be the account owner or an admin to change taxes.

Pick your province

1. Tap More → Taxes. You can also go to More → All settings → Taxes.
2. Tap Province / region and pick your province or territory. Each choice shows the taxes and rates it fills in.
3. Check Tax 1 and Tax 2. Each has a Name, a Rate (%) and a Registration number (optional).
4. Look at Example on a $200.00 job to see what a client would pay.
5. Tap Save changes.

The list has Quebec, Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island and Yukon / NWT / Nunavut, plus Custom and No sales tax.

Enter your own taxes

1. In Province / region, choose Custom.
2. Type a name and rate for each tax you charge. A rate must be above 0% and up to 30%.
3. Turn off any tax you don't charge. It then shows Off: not charged.
4. Tap Save changes.

If you don't charge any sales tax, choose No sales tax.

How taxes are calculated

• Rates apply to the subtotal after any discount.
• Existing quotes, jobs and invoices keep the taxes they were created with. Changing your settings only affects new ones.
• Two taxes are added separately, each on the same subtotal.

Change the taxes on one invoice

1. Open the invoice and tap a tax line, or tap + Tax.
2. Change the name or rate. Set a rate to 0 to remove a tax from this invoice.
3. Tap Save taxes.

Tips

• The presets save you typing, but check the rates with your accountant or your tax authority.
• If Quoti says Check the tax rates (above 0%, up to 30%), a rate is empty or out of range. Turn that tax off instead of typing 0.
